Helpful Items for C-Section Mamas, Per Question Box
I had a question box a few weeks ago that asked what some helpful items for c-section mama would be postpartum (to know and what friends could contribute), here were your responses:
Lounge wear: not too tight for the scar area.
Home cooked food.
Just being there was special enough
Set up a group of friends that want to alternate sending/delivering food
UberEats gift card or something to help with a meal (Mealtrain.com is also great)
Boppy billow that is a half mood, could warp it around my mid-section
C-section panties to hold parts together
Frozen meals for the crock pot (cooking was a challenge for a while)
People! People to clean, people to cook, people to cry on when your milk takes longer to come in.
Having my house cleaned while I was in the hospital and coming home to fresh everything
Support Belt
Bringing meals and leaving them at the door.
Paying to have a house cleaner come, bringing groceries and putting them away.
Breast milk doesn’t come in as quickly due to surgery, so just be prepared.
Food
Maternity Robe
Adhesive remover once bandage comes off
Cotton high-waisted undies and meals made
Some home-cooked food and a warm cup
Grabber tool; Door Dash Gift Card
Send food or someone to help clean
Fridamom disposable underwear (lifesaver)
Meal or snacks delivery
Belly band, good gel ice packs, a wedge pillow because getting up from laying flat is no bueno.
High-waisted underwear, lounge dresses, high-waisted leggings
Having an adjustable bed, or a sitting up pillow would be great.
Next c-section I’m getting high-waisted undies. Bikini hits right at the scar and OUCH
Food
Advil liquid gels are key
Meals, my mom brought me a bunch of premade meals and all I had to do was microwave
Belly band and a long grabber thing
Comfy loose high-waisted pants/sweatpants
Abdominal binder, compression socks
Silicone scar strips, pelvic physical therapy, help week 3
High-waisted sweatpants, Lululemon, Align
Grabber tool thing, house clean, bed rail, freezer meals, adult diapers, c-panties (high-waisted, light compression), heat/ice pack combo
A person to bring your baby to your bed, getting up from a flat bed with no recline is no joke.
Something comfy to wear that won’t irritate the incision
Comfy robes, dresses, night gowns, couldn’t stand anything waist-band near my incision.
High-waisted postpartum underwear
Walking (even if it hurts) and belly brace
Prepared meals, Grub Hub gift cards, bedside bassinet that attaches to box spring.
Someone to clean the house- BEST GIFT EVER! I was so happy
I live in Vuori Performance joggers (buttery soft and waist band not tight).
Frida mom underwear for weeks

Loofah on a stick for showering when healing.
Big water jug so I didn’t have to constantly refill.
Depends Silhouette, they are high rise. Compression leggings, Uber Eats gift card.
Help! Go and be helpful or send food or a maid. Rest for mom is key, just like for all moms.
Frozen dinners! Easy meals.
Kindred Braverly under wear and pants, abdominal binder- the hospital one was best.
High-waisted undies and meals.

Send food! And if there’s a toddler in the mix, send someone to wipe his bum.

Physical help and percocet lol
Cleaning lady was a desperate need of mine.
High-waisted underwear, shower bombs are amazing too since no baths for a while.
Honestly - help around the house, laundry, etc. C-section friendly clothes.
Dinners, robe, compression belt for area. They make ice packs specifically for the scar area.
Help around the house, comfy clothes. Easy snacks and drinks.
A nursing basket ready beside wherever I would sit so I didn’t have to get up and down with like snacks, water bottle, nipple cream.
A little pillow you can press on your belly when you sneeze, cough or laugh.
Diapers, frida mom silicone pads, peri-bottle, loos night gowns.
Target sweats stretchy enough not to irritate incision.
Wirapa high-waist undies off Amazon. Tight but comfy and no pain from it.
A belly support band.
Comfy soft leggings to basically live in.
Get up and move ASAP. Also, loose pants that go over the incision.
Raised toilet seat, comfy slip on, prepared food.
A soft, but absorptive towel.
Abdominal binder, I’m sure they have something fancier not but something for support.
Maternity full panel sweatpants. Having something around the stitches was a relief.
